We re-read the
Year Group Text and discussed any words that arose. These were student driven
and either words which were unfamiliar (wife and duvet) or words which sounded
good (evil pillow). We made links to other known words. By deciding what a
rocket did it was possible to guess what rocket boots might do. Then we talked
about what we could do if we had rocket boots. We also considered the word
meanings; that sub-aqua means under water. Then we could decide where we would
go, and what we would see there, if we were wearing a sub-aqua suit (an evil
octopus).
After making a mind map of our ideas we found pictures for the key words to write our own glossary definition for our new understanding of some of the words.
