'Traction Man is Here'

Year 2 retold the oral version of 'Traction Man is Here' by acting out the story with props. This was part of our imitation stage so the children understood the story fully.

Generating Sentences in Year 2

In Year 2 - we have seen the impact of quick-fire sentence generating on the children's writing. It has also helped to develop their story writing ideas. The children are getting much better at constructing sentences quickly, which gives their imagination a chance to flow!
We chose 3 random words in this activity, said our sentences aloud to a partner and then wrote them on the whiteboards.

The class also enjoyed the silliness of the activity and we had a good laugh at each others imaginative ideas!

Year 1 innovation - 'The Crocodile Who Came to Tea'

1V innovated the story changing a Tiger to a Crocodile!

Year 1 - 'The Tiger Who Came to Tea'

Year 1 have been learning the story of 'The Tiger Who Came to Tea'. During the imitation stage they enjoyed acting out the story using actions the class had agreed upon.

Year 2 - Inventing the story

Year 2 changed characters and settings from the story of 'The Papaya that Spoke'.

Here are some clips of their new stories!

Year 2 - 'The Strawberry that Spoke'

This writing was done independently during the 'Invention stage'. The child has changed the Papaya to a Strawberry, a Farmer to a Princess, a Fisherman to a Queen and so on.
She has included the time connectives from the original story and the 'Magpie' words we decided we like as a class.
She was extremely proud of her work and was not ready to stop until the story was complete!
