Mile Post 3
Year 6 Narrative Poetry after T4W on The Highwayman
Freezing to the core, the frost was Neptune’s soul freezing Bess to death Hanged up in a cellar as dark as midnight She struggled furiously for her heart’s desire to escape But the more she tried the soldier showed her no mercy But little did he know Bess had something of her own She was now ready to pose her cunning plan to escape
Daniel 6V
The sky was dark and eerie as Bess waited for the Highwayman to come Her heart was beating so fast it sounded like a endless vibration A flowing river of sweat dripped down Bess’s face And sitting on the wooden chair with no sound she struggled with the ropes But luckily she grasped toward a gun and with no hesitation she pulled the trigger And BANG the guard fell down Down and Down and Down And BANG the guard fell down, down and down to hell.
Zara 6V
She ran away for a year and a day
to the land of the Kingdom come
She went to the king and pleaded for life the Highwayman to be killed She begged for days in different ways And finally the king decided “Go get him you wimp or you won't live”
Harry 6V
Year 2 - 'The Strawberry that Spoke'
This writing was done independently during the 'Invention stage'. The child has changed the Papaya to a Strawberry, a Farmer to a Princess, a Fisherman to a Queen and so on.
She has included the time connectives from the original story and the 'Magpie' words we decided we like as a class.
She was extremely proud of her work and was not ready to stop until the story was complete!
